Mariah Fund

The Mariah Fund at Pets Lifeline provides vital financial assistance to pet owners who cannot afford essential medical services for their animals. By covering these medical expenses, the Mariah Fund helps keep beloved pets with their families or ensures that animals receive the necessary care to become adoptable, allowing them to find their forever homes. This program is dedicated to maintaining the bond between pets and their owners, while also supporting the well-being of animals in need.

Since the inception of Pets Lifeline's Mariah Fund in 2021, over 200 animals have been helped. We plan to increase the number of animals we support annually through partnerships with local veterinary clinics and animal shelters, like the Humane Society of Sonoma County.

Pets Lifeline is committed to further promoting the Mariah Fund and actively seeking partnerships that will expand its financial resources. By enhancing the Fund's capacity, we aim to support even more animals and families in need.
The Story of Cookie and Beth
Cookie’s journey to Pets Lifeline began when her loving owner, heartbroken, had no choice but to surrender her due to financial hardships. Overweight and struggling with a cancerous mass on her leg, Cookie needed urgent medical attention. Due to the financial support provided by the Mariah Fund, Pets Lifeline stepped in, without hesitation, providing the care Cookie desperately needed. But Cookie's future seemed uncertain, as her health declined, and she was placed into our Fospice program—where animals can spend their final days in comfort, surrounded by love.

Then, a miracle happened. After a few weeks of tender care, test results showed that Cookie’s cancer had stopped spreading. It was the news everyone hoped for but hardly dared to believe. That’s when Beth entered the picture—a kind-hearted woman searching for a senior companion to share her home and her heart. Cookie was officially adopted, finding not just a home, but a family.

“She came home with me, and it’s been a love fest ever since,” Beth shares. “I felt so lonely without a dog. Now, we play every day and share hugs. My daughter tells me I’m a completely different person. Cookie’s my baby, and I love her.”

Cookie’s transformation is a powerful reminder of the impact the Mariah Fund has on animals in need. Her story didn’t end in tragedy—it’s filled with hope, healing, and a second chance at happiness. The Power of Pets, read Beth and Cookie's story here

Looking Ahead
Pets Lifeline's future plans include utilizing the Mariah Fund to help supplement its own medical costs as we work towards expanding the services we currently provide through our on-site Community Clinic. This expansion of services will provide immediate and necessary medical care to animals in need, furthering our mission to support both pets and their families in our community. The Mariah Fund will play a crucial role in ensuring that this vital care clinic can offer affordable and accessible services to those who might otherwise be unable to afford critical care for their animals.
The Origin Story
The Mariah Fund was inspired by a simple act of kindness. Its founder, while at the vet with her cat Mariah, encountered a woman struggling to afford a $250 surgery for her pet. Deeply moved, she paid the fee, and in that moment, found her purpose: to dedicate her legacy to saving the lives of pets whose owners cannot afford medical care. From this experience, the Mariah Fund was born—a lifeline for pets in need of medical support, helping to keep them with their families or find new homes.
